Many of our customers have special requirements for their shipments and invoices. We are always happy to accommodate your needs - simply write your request in the comments box at checkout when you place your online order. Discount Policy and Points System
In general, foreign-published products are given a direct cash discount, and Japanese-published products earn points, which can be used to save you money on your next order. Our main discount/points bands are:-
Foreign-published Products
Under 150,000 yen total: 15% discount
150,000 yen or more total: 20% discount
Japanese-published Products
Under 150,000 yen total: 5% points
150,000 yen or more total: 7% points
Matsuka Phonics Institute (MPI) and EFL Press Products
Under 150,000 yen total: 10% discount and 1% points
150,000 yen or more total: 10% discount and 5% points

Shipping
Free shipping (within Japan) for orders over 8,000 yen (before discount). For orders below 8,000 yen, a 350 yen shipping/handling charge will apply (500 yen if paying by cash on delivery). This charge will not apply to orders consisting only of certain e-learning products, which are being supplied to you by email, unless we have to physically ship something to you to complete payment (for example, if you choose to pay by cash on delivery), and the total before discount is less than 8000 yen.

We ship the vast majority of orders within 1-5 working days. Occasionally, an item may be out of stock at our suppliers, or even out of stock in Japan. In these cases, it may take from 10 days to about a month to ship some of your purchases. Products in your order which are readily available, however, will still be shipped within 5 working days, and we will contact you to ensure that you know the status of your order and the expected date(s) of shipping. We will not charge you any extra shipping costs for items shipped at a later date due to being out of stock.
If you have a particular date you need your materials, please do let us know, and we will do our very best to accommodate your requirements. We ship most packages using either the Yamato delivery service or the Post Office; delivery to anywhere in Japan (except a few very outlying islands) takes between one and two working days from the date of shipping.

Payment Information
As our general policy is to take payment in advance of shipping, customers selecting bank or post office transfer will need to remit payment to us prior to the books being sent. We ask for your understanding and co-operation with this policy, which enables us to keep our prices as low as possible!
If you would prefer not to pay in advance, we recommend that you select our "Cash on Delivery" option.

The bank or post office will charge a small fee for transferring money. This fee is the customer's expense.
Please note that englishbooks.jp is a subsidiary of Travelman Ltd; our bank accounts are in the name of Travelman Ltd.
Credit Card: we accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express and JCB.
Cash on Delivery (Pay the delivery person)
If your order value is less than 8000 yen and you choose to pay by COD (cash on delivery), a 315 yen handling charge will apply.
In cases where we make two or more shipments to you, please note that payment will be taken in full (for all products) at the time of the first delivery.

Receipts
Unless requested, we do not include a receipt (ryoshusho) with your order, but we do always put in a packing slip listing what you bought and how much you paid. As proof of purchase, we recommend the following:-
Bank/Post Office transfer: keep the transfer receipt from the ATM or bank counter
Credit Card: your credit card bill will show how much you paid us
COD: The delivery person will give you a receipt (ryoshusho)
If you will be paying by bank/PO transfer or credit card and require a separate receipt (ryoshusho), please request it at the time of ordering. When ordering online, please simply check the "receipt" box on the "payment information" screen.
Please note that certain e-learning products are delivered by email. In cases where we are not shipping any physical products, we do not usually send a ryoshusho separately, even if the "receipt" box has been checked. In this case, please contact us separately by email should a ryoshusho be necessary.

Returns
Returns are usually possible (except in the case of products imported specially from overseas, and e-learning products where we supply an access code, whether the code has been used or not), but please contact us in advance to make the arrangements. Any returned goods must be in perfect condition, and the cost of shipping will be at the customer's expense.
We take great care when packing and shipping your materials, to ensure that everything reaches you in perfect condition. If for any reason you are not satisfied, please contact us to discuss and resolve the issue.
It would be most appreciated if you would take a few moments to check through products shipped to you as soon as possible. We ask that you contact us regarding returns within one month of the date of shipping. It is not usually possible to accept returns if a longer period of time has passed.

Ordering Products Not Listed Online
If you cannot find what you are looking for in our online catalogue, we can often still supply the products you are looking for. If you are making an online order for other products as well, please:-
1. Put all of the products you can find into your shopping cart, and proceed to the checkout.
2. Write a note in the comments box that you would also like to order some unlisted products, and supply us with the following information: product name, publisher/maker, ISBN number or product code, quantity needed of each product. Please be as detailed as possible, to ensure that we can understand exactly what you are looking for.
3. As your online payment total will not include the unlisted products, please select either "Bank Transfer", "Post Office Transfer", or "Cash on Delivery". If you would like to pay by credit card, please select "Bank Transfer", and write "payment by XXXXX card" (your card type, e.g. Visa, JCB, etc, would replace XXXXX) in the comments box too. Regardless of your payment method, we will contact you with your payment total, and in the case of credit card payment, to arrange your payment.
4. Submit your order. We will be in touch!
If you are not ordering any products which are listed online, or if you plan to order by email, fax or telephone, please contact us in the usual way, with as many product details as possible.

Ordering Products to be Shipped Overseas
We can usually ship products overseas, using the Post Office EMS service. This offers fast and reliable delivery to many countries. Please click here for a list of countries and regions served by EMS. Unfortunately, we cannot usually ship to other desinations - sorry!
There is no free shipping available for destinations outside Japan. We charge the actual EMS rate, plus 5% to cover the cost of collecting this charge by credit card (the 5% is only added to the shipping cost, not to the price of the products ordered). Please click here to view EMS shipping rates.
Please order in the following way:
1. Place your order online, in the usual way, noting points 2, 3 and 4 below.
2. Please select "Bank Transfer" as your payment method. This enables your order to be processed without us collecting any payment at first, since your shipping charge will not be reflected in your checkout total. We will send you an invoice by email, payable by credit card (only), once your shipping charge has been calculated.
3. You will not be able to change "Japan" as the country of shipping during the checkout process. Please ensure that your actual destination country is written in a different line of the address.
4. Please write a note in the comments box at the checkout, such as "Please ship by EMS to (country name)".
5. We will contact you by email with our estimate of the shipping cost and date. In the event that we do not have stock of your products at the time of ordering, we can give you an estimate of the cost, and a final invoice when your products have arrived and we can weigh them exactly.
6. You will need to complete payment by credit card, using the invoice contained in the email we will send you from PayPal, our card processor, prior to your products being shipped.
