Access Reading 4 Student Text

Access Reading Helps students learn to access the information and resources they need to become effective workers, community members, and parents. It develops communication, decision-making, interpersonal, and lifelong learning skills through interesting stories.

• Each unit contains two readings passages based on a topic: health, friends, you and your community, staying informed, our heritage, time, money, housing and neighborhood, fun and relaxation, education, and more.
• Essential reading strategies help students improve reading literacy. Examples: Using pictures and titles to figure out the main idea, making inferences, using background knowledge to increase comprehension, using context to figure out the meaning of new vocabulary and more.
• A special Access Reading Website provides additional optional readings.
