Talk a Ton

Talk a Ton leads learners to greater fluency. Chapter readings on understandable topics form the basis for a variety of communicative activities. Learners practice two ways of verbally exchanging information: discussions during which they give and receive information; and interviews during which they can focus on one of two discrete roles, asking questions including follow-up questions, or answering while providing details. The text offers plenty of chances for learners to practice listening, as well as just enough writing to keep everyone engaged. Learners will bulk up on English ability by using this textbook!

This new speaking text is a stand alone book with no audio component. The short listenings and dictations are designed to be read out in class by the teacher and listened to and written by the students. The author is planning to make audio files if this is desired by users and currently they are under discussion. The transcripts for the dictations are available to teachers, on the publisher web site.
