Getting There Text

Getting There is organized around five stages of apprenticeship for the student writer and five different themes that guide the readins and lead to various thinking and writing tasks. The student becomes more competent at developing effective essays through practice, peer review, discussions, research, and group work that relies on critical thinking skills.

• Four chapter rubrics: Exploring Ideas, Gathering Information and Drafting, Revising, and Editing.
• Student essays model effective writing and trigger discussions.
• Research activities, peer review, peer editing, and additional readings prepare students for the rigors of academic writing assignments.
