Read to Write Plus

Read to Write Plus is a collection of reformulated student writing designed to provide Japanese learners with comprehensible input of the type of language that teachers ask them to produce in writing classes.

The example paragraphs are approximately 150 words in length, and they cover a range of topics including describing people and places, writing movie reviews, and giving directions. The book trains students to pick up “chunks” of language and identify underlying patterns that they can then use to make their own sentences.

A bi-lingual English Writing Manual explains in simple language, and with numerous examples, the basic conventions of layout and the mechanics of English sentence construction.
